Walt Disney Pictures has officially announced its leading stars for the live-action adaptation of the fairytale ‘Tangled’. The studio on Thursday, that Australian actor Teagan Croft will play the role of Rapunzel while former Disney star Milo Manheim, will play the role of Flynn Rider. ‘Tangled’ gets its Rapunzel and Flynn RiderCroft, who was among the front-runners, will now step into the role of the Disney Princess with the magical, glowing hair who is locked away in a tower. Meanwhile, Manheim will portray Flynn Rider, the outlaw who, in a chance encounter with Rapunzel, takes her along on an adventure of a lifetime. About ‘Tangled’The upcoming film is said to be part of the live-action rollouts from the studio that created the original animated film back in 2010. The film featured characters voiced by Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. The film’s original song, ‘I See the Light’, sung by the lead pair, went on to score an Oscar nomination at the 83rd Academy Awards, but it didn’t win. The film that won a fandom of its own, and sparked off successful animated spinoffs, was not nominated for Best Animated Feature that year. The film is among the latest Disney live-action adaptations in the pipeline. After ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Aladdin’ and the upcoming ‘Moana’, the film is expected to be a hit at the box office. Scarlett Johansson in talks to play villainThe film has also been in the news over the buzz surrounding the casting of the film’s antagonist, Mother Gothel. As per reports, Scarlett Johansson was most recently in talks to play the Disney villain.‘Tangled’ live-action release dateThe film, which was in early developments in December 2024, was previously eyeing a 2025 release. The makers have yet to reveal a new release date for the film.
